if you get a chance to see the movie, "March of the Penguins", I suggest you do. Although the movie could have perhaps been 30 minutes shorter, it is wholly fascinating, besides being educational.
Emperor Penguins march 70 miles, from their "home in the sea" to their mating ground (a barron ice flat between 2 ice mountains). Waddling and sliding 70 miles may not sound like that much...
but we are talking about doing it in the coldest climate on earth, Antarctica... where it gets down to 70 degrees below zero (not counting wind chill)!
Penguins are creatures of habit...NO!... not really habit... it's survival instinct.
I kept on thinking, "Why don't these stupid birds just swim north!". Well, they've been performing this 70 mile ritual for apparently tens of thousands of years and that's the way it's going to be.
They just don't have the capacity to "think" their way to a better situation.
As humans, of course, we do.
However, so many of us just continue to do what we have always done... and get the same unwanted result... but we continue to be controlled by our negative habits.
Those that are controlled by their unwanted habits are no better than the penguin... in fact, worse... because we have the CAPACITY to change our habits but we CHOOSE not to.
It seems that every day I talk to someone who is struggling with their life... either personally or financially... and they own a copy of Think And Grow Rich.
I always ask, "Are you writing down your goals in the way that Napoleon suggests?" The answer is always some form of no...
* "I write them down, but I don't read them outloud to myself when I arise and when I retire."
* "I have them in my head." (yikes!)
* "Yes, I do"... but when I ask them to read the goals to me, it either lacks a deadline, it omits the part where you need to describe how you will GIVE in order to get, etc... always incomplete according to Napoleon.
I know that those that can't seem to "get their goals together" have the best of intentions... but the bottom line is that they need to get SERIOUS about doing it the right (effective) way.
Omitting any of the elements of proper goal creation is like baking bread and forgetting the yeast.
To create your goals properly, you have to look into yourself... I mean... ask yourself what you REALLY want... and that's hard for some people.
For many... it's scary!
But know this...
The exercise of being honest with yourself is CRITICAL to your transformation.
I'm here to support you!
Go ahead and ask yourself what you really want. Describe it in detail. Set a deadline. Be clear on what you will give in order to get what you want. And read your statement outloud (a whisper is fine) when you get up in the morning and when you go to sleep at night.
And watch your future unfold into reality!
Don't keep waddling around in the cold of mediocrity.
Make your dreams a reaility.
You can do it!
Your goals, created properly, will make it all happen for you!
